Laura and Giles are why I love photographing weddings.  Their story is amazing!  Laura's family is from South Africa and they moved to Jefferson, TX many years ago while Giles is from Scotland where he grew up and has lived most of his life.   But they met while they were both living in California and pursuing their dreams.

They both decided to have a real Texas wedding on Laura's parent's ranch called "Graceland".  It was complete with bales of hay, Texas band, Shiner Bock, oak trees, and boots.  But Laura and Giles' exquisite style, influenced by their California lifestyle and international upbringing, really upped the ante for those prone to show their Texan roots on the big day.

One of the coolest things about the wedding day was when everyone at the ceremony sang "Love Me Do" by the Beatles.  It was funny and sweet at the same time.  Where the style really came through is with the suits that Giles' friends were wearing.  The hats, ties, shoes, and colors were all so awesome.  Everything about the day exuded effortless style with a Texas theme.  I'll never forget it.

I am posting way too many pictures, but it's a wonderful story and it's worth hanging around to see.

I'm back again with more pictures.  When I did this shoot I rented a Contax 645 and bought some medium format film.  Now, I have never shot medium format and it's been 14 years since I shot 35mm film.  It was a lot of fun and I was really excited to see what the results were.  It's a look that is hard to reproduce digitally and I think it's special.  Expensive.............but special.

Here is a picture of the Contax 645 followed by pictures I took with it.

The day has finally come and my pictures have made it to Style Me Pretty.  I am so excited to get these on my blog and let the cat out of the bag.  I worked a bunch of other wedding professionals from the Dallas area to put this shoot together for a feature on Style Me Pretty and we had to wait till they posted first before we could show any of the pictures.

The Team:
Debby Jewesson with Branching Out Events (floral)
Kelly Simants with Sweet Pea Events
Michelle Parks with Elle Parks Photography
Jennifer Claire of Memento Designs
Megan Chumlea at The Aldredge House

and of course me, Hansel Dobbs Photography, behind the camera.  Enjoy the photographs and stay tuned for more.

Alyssa and Andrew created a wedding that had their personalities all over it.  The most unique feature of their wedding was that they had games set up on the lawn at Arlington Hall including badminton, croquet, and botchiball.  They really wanted their wedding to be about having fun and spending quality time with their guests.  They wanted it to be a really fun day and I think they accomplished that.

The wedding of Alyssa and Andrew was so sweet and personal to them.  They really made the day about the things that really make them happy and it shows in the pictures.  They set up games on the lawn at Arlington Hall in Dallas, TX such as croquet, badminton, and botchiball.  They had a lot of fun and the day was beautiful.  This is one of my favorite pics from the day.
